SANDAKAN: Sugut assemblyman Datuk James Ratib has urged participants of 1AZAM (Akhiri Zaman Miskin) to grab opportunities provided by the government to improve the incomes of their families.

He said the participants should wisely use all provided equipment to uplift their standard of living.

Speaking at the closing of the water supply and piping course organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAFI) here recently, James also advised the participants not to sell government-provided equipment to a third party.

In line with that, James hoped the Beluran District Council would give immediate approval for business licences applied for by the 1Azam participants.

“Personally, I am also involved in assisting everyone of these 1Azam participants, including holding a discussion with the contractor of the water plant project in Paitan to appoint any eligible participants as their sub-contractors or at least as workers,” he said.

Meanwhile, James also thanked MAFI for providing allocation and also the company handling the course, Iman Consultant.

He believed the course would certainly benefit the participants.

Twenty individuals from Beluran attended the 10-day course in the hope that they could use the gained knowledge to improve and enhance their incomes.

Also present at the ceremony were Beluran District Officer Yusop Haji Osman and Iman Consultant manager Norazman Haji Utoh Nain.
