KOTA KINABALU: Talented students now can show their full potential in the 5th Sabah Educational Digital Film Festival on November 8 this year.
The festival, jointly organised by the State Education Department, Ministry of Resource Development and Information Technology, Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) and Sabah Technology Education Department, will be held at Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru and Spa Resort.
Resource Development and Information Technology Minister Datuk Siringan Gubat said it is about time to honor and recognize students who show a lot of creativity in digital filming.
He said the film festival this year is open to all schools in Malaysia and is divided into three categories – closed category for Sabah schools, open category for schools from other states and animation category for all states in Malaysia.
The contestants must submit their original film production with the duration of between two and eight minutes.
For the filming categories, both closed and open, the entries must include moral values featuring some lessons.
For the animation filming category, the contestants can submit entries in “Stop Motion” animation technique.
A total of RM79,000 worth prizes, including cash, computer and digital cameras, will be given away.
All the entries must be submitted in compact disc by October 11 this year, to Urus Setia FFDPNS 5, Bahagian Teknologi Pendidikan Negeri Sabah, Lorong Sahabat, off Jalan Penampang Lama, 89500 Penampang.
Entry forms can be obtained from the State Educational Technology Division, IT Advancement Unit of the Ministry of Resource Development and Information Technology, district education office and teacher activity centres.
The forms can also be downloaded from the State Education Technology Division’s website www.btpnsabah.edu.my or www.facebook.com/dstsabah.

Asked if the competition would be opened to the higher level institutions, Silingan said they would put it into consideration.
