KOTA KINABALU: LDP Women movement chief, Nancy Lim, has been suspended from her post with immediate effect.

Party president, Datuk VK Liew, in announcing this at a press conference held at the party’s headquarters in Kepayan Perdana yesterday, said that Lim’s suspension will be lifted after investigations into some alleged discrepancies on the movement’s accounts is completed.

“I have the most unenviable task of having to announce the suspension of Nancy Lim as the head of the party’s central Wanita movement. It came to light in the last 48 hours when my ex Secretary General notified me of a possible breach of law regarding the accounts of the movement.

“Unfortunately, after giving him notice on the gravity of the matter to act, Datuk Teo Chee Kang, who was then the party’s public officer in his capacity as the secretary general, failed, refused and/or neglected to report the matter to the higher authority for investigation within a reasonable time expected of a reasonable man who holds public office as well and being an honourable member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly.

“The position of the head of the party’s central Wanita movement will be suspended until completion of the investigation. Meanwhile, I have the duty to supervise and ensure the smooth running of the movement and in that respect the movement will come under my care directly,” Liew said.

He also clarified that the party has not appointed an acting Women movement chief, contrary to what was reported in the printed media recently.

“There were newspaper reports quoting an acting Women’s movement chief. This is incorrect. I have not appointed an acting Women’s movement chief because I have not suspended her (Nancy) until this moment,” he said.
