SANDAKAN: The Marine Operation Force (MOF) here confiscated about 10 tonnes of crude palm oil at Sungai Seguntor on Saturday.
MOF Regional 4 acting commander DSP Husaini Bin Zainal disclosed that the MOF detained a boat laden with crude palm oil without any documents during a patrol at Sungai Seguntor around 8.40am.
Husaini added that the MOF also arrested two men aged between 21 to 35 at the scene, who were believed to be involved in illegally transporting the crude palm oil.
According to preliminary investigation, he said the crude palm oil was purchased from a scow and it was to be sent to a factory to be processed into cooking oil.
Husaini said the case was being investigated under the Malaysia Palm Oil Board Act 1998 for illegal transport of crude palm oil, which carries a fine of not more than RM200,000, and the case will be referred to the Malaysian Palm Oil Board Sandakan branch for further action.
