Kadazan Society Sabah receives rm1 million

KOTA KINABALU: The Kadazan Society Sabah (KSS) yesterday received RM1 million to establish the Kadazan Foundation to improve educational opportunities and implement special programmes for the community.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Joseph Kurup handed over  a mock cheque for RM1 million to KSS president Datuk Marcel Leiking in a ceremony here.

In his speech, Kurup said he represented Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to present the second contribution to KSS to help implement its programmes.

“The objective of KSS is noble and I believe the programmes will benefit its members,” he added.

The ceremony was also witnessed by the poltical secretary to the prime minister, Wong Nai Chee.

The Kadazan Foundation aims to give scholarships, educational grants and aid to poor students and promote the Kadazan language, culture and tradition. — Bernama
