TAWAU: Hawkers at the Tanjung, Sin Onn, Semarak, and also at the fish market here are complying with the Price Control Act 2011.
District Domestic Trade, Co-Operative and Consumerism officer in-chief Peter J. Berinus Agang said his ministry often monitored the markets throughout the district and had found that many of the hawkers were complying with the stated regulations.
He told the media this during an Ops Harga operation at the four markets yesterday morning after receiving several complaints from consumers recently. Peter led the operation together with 12 officers.
“This operation aims to overcome any price hike issue and inappropriate price marking on products. It is important for us to ensure that hawkers have proper price justifications,” Peter said.
According to him, notice would be given to hawkers who failed to comply with the Price Control Act 2011.
Yesterday, the ministry issued four compounds to hawkers at the Tanjung and fish markets for failing to display price tags on their products.
