KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Idol series now in its third season will begin its quest for the best Sabah singer in Kundasang on Oct 18, in conjunction with the annual cabbage festival.
To be held at the Kundasang Town Square, registration and audition will begin at 1pm to be followed by the finals at 7pm on the same night.
Kundasang assemblyman and Assistant Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam is expected to officiate at the event.
Joachim said: “I’m grateful that Peter Dicky Lee has again chosen Kundasang as one of his Sabah Idol destinations. Ranau and Kundasang have many undiscovered talents and I hope this year the champion of the grand prize will come from my constituency.”
Singer and organizer of the event Peter Dicky Lee said: “I’m truly touched by the generosity of Datuk Joachim for sponsoring this event, without which there will be no Kundasang selection. On behalf of all Sabah Idol fans, especially those power-packed singers from Ranau and Kundasang, thank you Datuk”.
The top three finalists will represent Ranau-Kundasang during the grand final which is expected to be held at the state capital at the end of the year. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman is expected to officiate at the event just like he did during the Sabah Idol Season 1 at Suria Sabah two years ago.
Last year the grand final was held at the Darvel Bay Plaza Lahad Datu.
