SANDAKAN: A police constable, a Civil Defence Department personnel and a Rela volunteer have been detained for allegedly raping a 21-year-old married woman at a hotel here around midnight on Monday.
In the incident, the woman was said to have just finished eating at Restaurant Habeeb and was on her way home when she was approached by a policeman, two members of the Civil Defence Department (JPAM) and a member of Rela who were on patrol duty at Jalan Dua.
When the woman failed to show any valid identification document, she was allegedly told to either give them money or have sex with them in return for her release.
Scared of being arrested and without money, the woman gave in to their demand for sex.
They then took turns to have sex with her but one of the JPAM personnel chose to be not involved.
The woman was then told to go home after the incident.
A police report was only made two days later on Sept 24 because the woman hesitated due to fear of repercussion.
The case will be investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code.
