KOTA KINABALU: The acute diesel shortages in Sabah is expected to end today with the authorities assuring that an additional eight million litres of the fuel would be supplied to the state.
Sabah Petroleum Dealers Association president Charles Soong said the Domestic Trade and Counsumer Affairs Sabah office director Suhaimi Mat Sari had assured him they had applied for the additional supplies of the subsidised fuel.
“If everything goes well, we expect additional diesel supplies to reach petrol stations by Friday afternoon,” he said yesterday.
Soong said petroleum company officials had also assured the grouping of petrol station dealers that they would send in diesel supplies around the clock once the necessary government approvals were obtained.
“The petroleum companies are prepared to send in the diesel supplies all through the weekend,” he said.
Meanwhile, the diesel shortage saw vehicle owners scrambling from one petrol station to another in search of the fuel.
