KOTA KINABALU: Police are looking for a 33-year-old man who they believe could assist in their investigation into the murder of a young woman in her rented room in Kampung Likas here on Thursday.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Nur Amin Said is urged to immediately contact ASP Yusof Othman at 012-8191313 or 088-529287 or the nearest police station.
The victim, Juselina Rizal, 21, was found dead by her housemate with stab wounds to the lower back around 9am on Thursday. Her body, clad in pyjamas, was lying in a pool of blood on a mattress.
It is learnt that about six hours earlier, the victim had a heated argument with her husband, who works as a shopping mall security guard, just before sahur (a pre-dawn meal before daytime fasting for Muslims).
It is also said that the victim was renting the double-storey wooden house with six families.
One of her housemates claimed to have heard a woman’s scream around 4am but thought it was a normal argument between the husband and wife.
Police believe the woman was murdered between 2am and 4am on July 25.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
