KOTA KINABALU: Police believe that both the Chinese citizens who were separately abducted by gunmen from a resort in Semporna and a fish farm in Pulau Baik, Lahad Datu are safe and well.
Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib said both the abductees are safe and that Bukit Aman is working closely with their Philippine counterparts pertaining to the case.
“I can’t reveal much information on both cases because what’s important right now is for the release of both victims,” he said yesterday.
Gao Hua Yuan, 29, and Yang Zai Lin, 34, were separately kidnapped by gunmen, believed to be from a kidnap-for-ransom (KFR) group from the Philippines, from Singamata Reef Resort in Semporna and a fish farm at Pulau Baik in Lahad Datu on April 2 and May 6 respectively.
The whereabouts of both victims is still unknown but believed to be in Jolo.
