KUDAT: The State Government will build more Islamic religious education schools in Sabah to enhance the propagation of Islam, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman.
He said these schools would give emphasis to education based on the Quran as well as memorising of the Holy Book.
Education based on the Quran and Sunnah (the way of the Prophet) should form the basis for creating successful human capital, he said when opening the Sabah-level Quran recitation competition here on Tuesday night.
Zunaidi alias Ady Misdaranai and Soffizah Mousin were selected as the winners in the Qari (men) and Qariah (women) categories respectively.
Zunaidi, who garnered 86.33 points, and Soffizah, who collected 85.33 points, received RM6,000 cash, a certificate and an offer to perform the Haj or Umrah, among others.
They will represent Sabah at the national-level competition to be held in Kuantan next month. – Bernama
