KOTA KINABALU: The late Datuk Seri Panglima Sari Tan had contributed a lot to the society and Chinese temples, and his passing is a great loss to the Chinese community.
Putatan Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Frankie Liew said Sari’s past contributions to the Chinese community were evident and his charitable spirit should be emulated.
Liew first met Sari around four years ago when the latter asked him to be the guest of honour for SJK(C) Hwa Shiong fund-raising dinner.
“That was the first time I went to his office.
“He talked to me about his life and and his hardships in the past.”
Liew added that he and Sari also joined Taiwan Buddhist Zu Chi Foundation camp four to five years ago and disclosed that the latter also supported.
Liew and the chamber’s committee members went to KK Tionghua Funeral Parlour to pay their respects to Sari yesterday.
Sari passed away here on March 25. His memorial service will be held at SM Kian Kok at 8am on March 31.
