TENOM: A trader here lost about RM50,000 when his clothing shop was gutted by an early morning fire yesterday.
District Fire and Rescue Department Officer, Ajis Ajab, who led the operation, said the department received a distress call at 2.29am and sent nine personnel in two fire engines to the scene.
They managed to bring the blaze under control and prevented it from spreading to other shops, he said, adding that the fire was put out at 2.56am.
“The cause of the fire is still under investigation and there were no casualties reported in the incident,” he said.
Ajis also advised the public to avoid open burning during the dry season.
