KOTA KINABALU: The Eastern Territory Command and Task Force 450 which were newly formed by the Royal Malaysian Army (RMA) will help to strengthen defence against enemy attacks and sovereignty of the country.
Malaysian Army Commander General Datuk Mohamed Affendi Raja Mohamed Noor said, with the establishment of the Eastern Territory Command and Task Force 450, the RMA would continue to support the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM) by mobilizing its personnel and logistics if needed.
“With these two organizations in place, we will be able to defend our sovereignty better because we can execute the tasks through the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS),” he told a press conference during his visit to the 5th Brigade Camp in Lok Kawi yesterday.
The Eastern Territory Command and the Task Force 450 will be launched on March 27 this year.
Earlier in his speech, Mohamed Affendi reminded officers to instil courage, attitude, morale, cooperation, and unity in every member of the Malaysian Army, in order to be a strong force.
“These values which I consider the intangible element of combat multiplier are the most important.
“Even if you have the most sophisticated weapons which are the tangible element, but if you don’t have courage, you can’t win,” he said.
Mohamed Affendi’s two-day visit was in conjunction with the Malaysian Army’s 81st anniversary, which was celebrated on March 1.
Also present were Army Field Commander, Lieutenant General Datuk Sri Zulkiple Kassim, Eastern Territory Commander, Lieutenant General Datuk Mohd Zaki Mokhtar, Task Force 450 Commander, Major General Datuk Ranjit Singh Ramday, and 5th Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Jalaluddin Manan.
