MPs should heed King’s advice on unity – NGO

KOTA KINABAL: All non-governmental organisations (NGOs) are grateful to all members of parliament from Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat for attending and taking their oath of office in Parliament last Monday, according to Persatuan Bumiputera Bersatu Sabah.

“This denotes that unity persists in progress with one voice which augurs well for democracy. Together they are duty-bound and it is their responsibility to fight for the good, well-being and rights of all Malaysians,” said its president Datu Paduka Pengiran Abdul Rahman Datu Paduka Pengiran Zainal Abidin.

“We are appreciative of the Yang Di Pertuan Agong, Tunku Abdul Halim Muadzan Shah for calling unity at the opening of the said Dewan Rakyat.

“The Agong emphasizes on unity, to forget and forgive among BN and PR leaders and urges all MPS to work hard for the people, development of economy, social welfare and integrity for the progress of the nation.

“They should discard negative attitude and accept the results of the 13th General Election with open heart.

Abdul Rahman also congratulated Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia for his re-election as Speaker of Parliament. All MPs should take heed of Pandikar Amin’s advice and suggestions to change for the betterment of meeting and the people, and move towards matured democracy of Parliament to a higher level.

Rahman urged both BN and PR members of parliament to stop bickering and work for the best interest of the people.

“They should work together for the betterment of the people to progress in peace, in harmony and prosperity so that other nations of the world would respect and adore Malaysia of its ability and wisdom,” he said.

Rahman added said “The people time and again should rally behind Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and support him till now remember his recent so that his ‘Aku Janji’ could be fulfilled particularly in giving out BRIM of RM1,200 in the immediate future preferably before the eve of Hari Raya celebration sometime in early August 2013.”

The BRIM would surely help the hardcore poor in the country, particularly in Sabah and Sarawak ease their burden, said Abdul Rahman.

He also welcomed the recent initiative of Special Tasks Minister Datuk Teo Chee Kang and his entourage in asking for more allocation from the Economic Planning Unit (EPU), headed by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Abdul Wahid Omar, to minimise inflation and eradicate poverty in Sabah.
