KOTA KINABALU: A diploma scholarship worth RM25,000 awaits the champion of grand final of Sabah Idol Season 2, which is expected to be held at the end of the year either in Kota Kinabalu or Lahad Datu.
Announcing this during a press conference held at the Asian Tourism International College (ATIC), assistant chief executive officer Marcus A. Solibun, said: “ATI College is proud to associate and work together with Sabah Idol in its search and development of local talents through this popular reality series. It is also in line with our vision of introducing a new diploma course in Performing Arts next year, which will include singing, acting, dancing and also modelling. We are very excited with the prospect given the abundance of talented people in these fields.”
“We are very selective in our sponsorship programs and so far over the years, the only program that we have sponsored is the annual state-level Unduk Ngadau where the winner is given a diploma course to study in our college,” Marcus added.
He said the sponsorship is not exchangeable for cash and in the event the champion opts not to accept the sponsorship, the offer will go the runner-up. The offer will end with the second runner-up.
“We also offer courses in business, tourism, culinary, hospitality, diving, accountancy, retail, marketing and office management,” Marcus disclosed.
Singer and managing director of Borneo Events Production, Peter Dicky Lee, as the organizer, said: “We are very grateful for ATIC’s sponsorship and look forward to a wonderful working relationship with them. I am sure this will add impetus and motivation to our grand finalists to achieve greater heights in their future careers.”
