PENAMPANG: Five crime suspects and a drug addict were among 36 people detained by the police in the continuous Ops Cantas Khas at squatter areas and construction sites around the district early Friday morning.
District police chief DSP Ratan Kumar Singh said, three squatter areas, namely Taman Intan, Taman Farmosa and Jalan Kobusak, and two construction sites, Taman Bulan and Kampung Kibabaig, were raided by enforcement teams in the four-hour operation which begin at 12am.
“Five men, believed involved in several criminal activities and a drug addict were arrested while 36 illegal immigrants were taken to the police headquarters for further investigation,” he said.
Singh said such operation would be carried out from time to time and he thanked the public for providing information to the police.
Friday’s operation saw three police officers, 47 police personnel, 33 Rela personnel and 13 Sabah Civil Defence Department (JPAM) involved in nabbing the illegals.
