KOTA KINABALU: The state’s sole power provider Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd has launched a four-day Kembara Merdeka convoy to mark its 50th Malaysia anniversary celebration.
The convoy comprising 65 staff from SESB and its vendors began their journey to carry the Jalur Gemilang and Sabah’s flags on a full round trip across the state yesterday.
The group of 17 four-wheel drive vehicles and three high-powered motorcycles yesterday made their first stop in Kota Belud where they distributed flags and contribution to recipients at the district police headquarters.
They also stopped at a school in Pitas to promote awareness on independence and efficient energy among the students, before continuing to Sandakan.
The convoy is scheduled to continue their Merdeka mission to Tawau, Kalabakan, Nabawan and Keningau today and on Sunday they will continue to Labuan via Tenom and Sipitang, before returning to the state capital on Monday.
Apart from the Kembara Merdeka, SESB is also currently holding an exhibition in conjunction with the Malaysia Day month at the foyer of its building, Wisma SESB, Karamunsing.
The exhibition entitled “50 Tahun Sabah Maju Jaya Dalam Malaysia” will be held until Sept 30 and is open to the public from 9am to 5pm daily.
