KOTA KINABALU: A police report has been lodged by LDP secretary general Loretto S. Padua Jr. on the incident where party staff were allegedly prevented from entering the party headquarters office on Tuesday.

Loretto, in a statement yesterday, said that the police report was made as laws could have been broken such as criminal trespass, mischief and even wrongful confinement.

These are indeed serious offences and if such offences were found to have been committed, then those responsible must bear the consequences of their action under the law, he said.

“I believe police investigation has commenced in respect of this matter and we are confident that the police will investigate it thoroughly and professionally without fear and favour.

“I would like to state that we do not recognize this group or the purported resolution that they have made.

“These are individuals who either have been sacked or suspended from their post and their membership in the party. None of them carry with them the authority or power to make decisions in respect of party matters. By their actions, it only shows that these are desperate people taking desperate measures.

“The police report was made solely for the reason that we believe criminal acts have been committed by this group and the police should investigate and take the necessary action in this matter,” he said.

Loretto also said that the role and conduct of those who are allegedly involved, especially Datuk Teo Chee Kang and Senator Datuk Chin Su Phin, is unbecoming of a state legislator who happens to be a state minister. Not forgetting to mention that the other person is also a member of the Dewan Negara, he pointed out.

According to him, both of them are supposed to be leaders and to set examples for all to follow to respect and uphold the rule of law.

But their actions and conduct in leading a group of people to disregard and disrespect the rule of law and taking the law into their own hands speaks volume of their value as leaders.

“Do they realize that their actions in leading this group of individuals could cause and condemn these individuals to incriminating acts against the law which would befall upon them? Their actions were clearly planned and considered in every detail to enter the premises in such a manner as they did,” he said.
