WORK on the 145-kilometre Kalabakan-Sapulut Road is proceeding accordingly and is in fact ahead of schedule.
Deputy Chief Minister cum Infrastructure Development Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan told the state assembly sitting yesterday when replying to Sebatik assemblyman Abd Muis Picho that the project was expected to be completed on October 6 next year.
Pairin said the road’s progress was at 69 per cent, which was four per cent ahead of schedule.
He added that 81 kilometres had already been paved, of which 54 kilometres stretched from Kalabakan (Tawau) and 27 kilometres from Sapulut (Nabawan).
