Borneo Post wins big in Shell Press Award

KOTA KINABALU: The Borneo Post won the main prizes in four categories of the Kinabalu Shell Press Award yesterday.

Sandra Vivien Sokial walked away with RM5,000 with her winning entry ‘The Royal Visit’ in the Journalism Award (Feature and news feature) category beating 19 other participations.

Under the news reporting section, Jenne John Lajiun, Mariah Airens Doksil and Murib Morpi were named the winners for their entry entitled ‘Sabah Native Land Rights’. The main prize under this category is RM2,500 cash.

Sports reporter Arfandi Jaafar also did The Borneo Post proud with his entry ‘Illustrious Year for Sabah Athletes’, which won him the Sports Journalism Award and cash prize of RM2,500.

Meanwhile, Chok Sim Yee won the Environmental Journalism Award with her entry ‘Tell tale signs of overfishing in Sabah’.
