KOTA KINABALU: The Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy, Zheng He, will be calling on the port of Kota Kinabalu from August 18 to 22 in accordance with the military exchange programme between China and Malaysia.
Zheng He is a naval training ship with a total of 360 crew members .
The naval ship’s visit was slightly delayed due to the recent typhoon which hit the southern part of China and the Philippines. This will be the first time that a China naval ship visiting Sabah.
The China Defence Attaché with the Embassy of the People’s of China, Senior Colonel Chen Wei has appointed Sabah Ma-Zhong Friendship Association to help facilitate and coordinate matters relating to the ship’s visit.
The visit testifies to the importance of the close historical relationship of China with Malaysia and Sabah. Is is also a prelude to the up-coming visit of China President Xi Jinping to Malaysia.
President of Sabah Ma-Zhong Friendship Association Dr Oh Ei Sun warmly welcomed Zheng He’s visit and pledged that Sabah Ma Zhong will work closely with the authorities of both countries to make the historic visit a resounding success.
He hopes the visit will not only promote Sabah as a tourist destination but showcase the rapid development and stability of the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman.
