KOTA KINABALU: Kota Belud Umno divisional chief Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak will not be contesting for any top post in the Umno party election this October.

The Sabah Umno deputy liaison chairman confirmed this when contacted yesterday. Salleh however did not give any reason for not offering himself for a Umno Supreme Council post in the party’s election.

The State Assembly Speaker is the second Sabah Umno leader who has ruled himself out of the party election which is scheduled to be held in mid-October.

Foreign Minister cum Kimanis Umno division chief Datuk Seri Anifah Aman had cited work commitments as the reason for not contesting in any of the party’s Supreme Council posts.

Last month, National Puteri Umno chief Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin told reporters that she has yet to decide if she will be contesting for a post in the party’s supreme council or its women’s movement.

According to Rosnah, there are several factors she needs to look at and consider before making her decision. The Papar member of parliament said that she is not offering to defend the Puteri Umno Chief post because of the age limit factor, which is 40 years old.
