SANDAKAN: Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said it has been brought to the attention of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak that Sabahan contractors should be awarded the contract for construction of the Pan Borneo Highway.
He said the matter was discussed at a meeting of the State Cabinet some time back.
“We appreciate and understand the concerns raised by those wanting to see local contractors benefit from this project. I have discussed these concerns with the prime minister and he has agreed to review the matter,” he said when responding to questions from reporters here yesterday.
Kalabakan MP Datuk Seri Abdul Ghapur Salleh said in the Dewan Rakyat recently that the government should award the project to Sabah contractors instead of wealthy companies from outside the state.
Najib had announced a RM27-billion allocation in Budget 2015 for the construction of the highway. — Bernama
