Police hunt two men over robbery at 24-hour outlets

KOTA KINABALU: Police are hunting two men from a gang believed to have caused RM18,350 in losses from robberies and break-ins in Menggatal, near here.

Kota Kinabalu police chief, ACP M Chandran said three members of the gang, aged 21 to 34, with records over drugs, were nabbed in a raid on a house in Taman Bukit Setia, Menggatal at 11pm on Oct 8.

“They have robbed at least five 24-hour outlets and broken into cars and houses. A Kancil car, cellphone and screw driver were also seized from them,” he told reporters here, yesterday.

In another development, police detained a suspected drug distributor, aged 17, with 67.58 gms of syabu worth RM1,500 at a bus stop in Jalan Keramat, Likas yesterday at 3.15pm.

M Chandran said a suspect, 36, without identifications, was also nabbed on Oct 9 at 7pm, in front of a shopping complex in Likas, near here, over a robbery-cum-rape case in Kampung Darau, Menggatal on June 17.

Police also detained a 33-year-old man on Oct 4 in Kampung Air, at 8.30pm for allegedly robbing three secondary school students and a shop in Asia City, he added. — Bernama
