KOTA KINABALU: Seeing the potential in Sabah, Regus, the world’s leading provider of flexible workspace solutions opened its first business centre in Kota Kinabalu, at Suria Sabah Shopping Mall, which is its 15th in Malaysia.

Launched by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Raymond Tan Shu Kiah yesterday, Regus CEO (Asia Pacific), John Wright pointed out that the new business centre was the first centre opened outside Peninsula Malaysia for the company.

“We believe that there’s serious untapped potential here (Sabah), and that’s why we chose it for out first business centre outside of Peninsula Malaysia.

“With our research data showing that almost two-thirds of Malaysian companies believing remote management is a significant aid to productivity, the launch of the new business centre at Suria Sabah is a positive step forward in validating those findings and will encourage more firms to make flexible working a reality,” said Wright at the launching, yesterday.

Commending Regus, Raymond noted that the opening of the business centre in Sabah, backed by a strong network of 2,000 business centres worldwide, will complement and go hand-in-hand with the industrial development and economic growth in the state, that are seeing an upward trend.

“What Regus brings to Sabah goes beyond attracting foreign investors. Their flexible solutions and network of centres in Malaysia and around the globe help local businesses too. It provides the vital networks and connectivity that will link Kota Kinabalu at any point in the global business village on a 24/7 basis,” said Raymond.

“The convenience Regus brings is unmatched, particularly for businesses looking to set up operations abroad,” he said.

Located in prime areas of the business district, Regus provides high-speed and secure internet connection, full office equipment, a receptionist to direct your mails, answer your calls, and handle queries from walk-in prospects.

Other than that, working mothers will find the services provided by Regus convenient and timely, through being given access to flexible working arrangements, such as remote working or working at a location nearer to home, giving a mother the ability to balance taking care of her children and her work by going to the office only when she needs to.

Also present at the launching ceremony yesterday was Regus Malaysia country manager, Vijayakumar Tangarasan, who briefed the media on the services provided by the company.

“Virtual offices are gaining popularity in working trends, all over the world, and that is what Regus provides. Not only for oil and gas offshore companies, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), working mothers, but for anyone who just wants flexible solutions to working.

“Before Regus, those who wish to work out of the office do so at caf閟 with WiFi services, or at hotel lobbies and such. But for some, this would not be enough due to not being conducive, and would prefer a more professional or more office-like environment. This is where Regus comes in,” said Vijayakumar.

He disclosed that other than these services, Regus also provides facilities such as meeting rooms and training facilities, which are also available for those who are not Regus members.
