KOTA KINABALU: If you dig African sounds and rhythms, or if you want to have an intimate experience of this unique musical goodness, make a date with the Agape African Choir in early October.
The 37-member multi-racial South African Christian choir whose members’ age gap is over 50 years, is set for three concerts here, beginning with a free concert in the public gallery of City Mall on Oct 1, and two consecutive tickets only night concerts at the Glory Christian Centre (GCC) auditorium at the Damai commercial centre on Oct 3 and 4.
All concerts start at 7.30pm. Tickets for the GCC concerts are priced at RM20. They are available by calling GCC office at 088-250312.
The choir is also expected to lead GCC’s Sunday worship on Oct 5, starting at 9am.
Its first album of worship songs is due to be launched during its stop here.
Led by the husband-and-wife team of Grant and Bernice Clifton, the Agape Christian Choir is currently touring in Indonesia and South Korea. The choir consists of members of the Agape Christian Centre, a church in the small town of Makhado (Louis Trichardt) in Limpopo, South Africa. Since its inception, the group has performed to rousing applause.
The group, with teachers, mechanics, housewives and regular employees among them, first performed here during the 2013 International Pastors and Leaders Conference hosted by GCC, an independent church in the city.
