KINABATANGAN: A policeman was injured after a gas cylinder exploded during an operation to detain two drug suspects at a hut in Kampung Pelangi here around 2pm on Tuesday.
District police chief Superitendent A. Sahak Rahmat yesterday said the cop suffered face injury.
He said both the suspects had tried to escape when they saw the police approaching the hut. During the struggle, there was an explosion believed to be caused by a cooking gas cylinder in the hut.
From the initial investigation, a packet of plastic believed containing 5.20 grams of methamphetamine, was found inside the pants of a 23-year-old suspect.
Police also seized three plastic packets containing 0.6 gram of methamphetamine from the second suspect aged 29 years old.
Two airgun marbles and a sword were also confiscated from the hut.
Sahak said both suspects had tested positive for methamphetamine.
The case will be investigated under Section 39A (1), Section 12 (2) and Section 15 (1)(c) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
