LABUAN: The bodies of the two missing fishermen were found in the sea off Kampung Pelakat beach, Sipitang at 9am yesterday.

Labuan Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) commander (M) Che Adnan Md. Isa said the victims have been identified as Saban Latip, 32, and his brother, Amran Latip, 30.

“The bodies of the two brothers were found floating at sea close to the beach and were immediately rushed to the Sipitang Hospital with the help of the fire and rescue team and the villagers,” he said.

It was reported earlier that both siblings had gone out to sea to fish near Pulau Daat last Saturday at 6.30pm in their boat.

They were reported missing when local fishermen found their boat and failed to locate them. It was suspected then that the siblings could have drowned due to the prevailing bad weather at the time.
