KOTA KINABALU: As the Internal Security Act (ISA) is no longer relevant, the government should look into an alternative law to curb the those who instigate and threaten the security of the country, Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) vice president Dr Zhamriee Ghulam said.
In view of this, the PBRS Sepanggar chief suggested the government introduce the Individual Affair Act to ensure that the harmony and unity in the state are not disrupted by those with individualistic tendencies.
Dr Zhamriee in making the suggestion said that those who are found trying to raise racial and religious issues as well as create disharmony, disunity and threaten the peace, security and prosperity of Sabah and Sarawak, should be charged under this Act.
He added that PBRS is also against the move by some quarters calling for Sabah and Sarawak to secede from Malaysia.
“These people are trying to poison the minds of Sabahans and Sarawakians, therefore action should be taken against them. Why should we allow these people to continue creating disunity and disharmony among us,” he stressed.
Dr Zhamriee was of the opinion that once Sabah is unstable, opportunists would take advantage of the situation and the state as well as its people will be at the losing end.
“It is sad when the younger generation is instigated to hate by these irresponsible individuals as Sabah and Sarawak have always been the model of 1Malaysia since time immemorial and its people have always lived in peace and harmony.
“PBRS will therefore ensure that the rights of Sabahans are protected and guaranteed. We leave it to the wisdom of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman to consider and determine the best Act in the aspect of individual affair,” he said.
