LAHAD DATU: The Lahad Datu Region 4 Marine Police Operations Base fulfills the demand for modern policing that has become all the more complex and challenging, said Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Bakri Mohd Zinin.
He said that in this context, the planning and strategic development in terms of training, infrastructure, assets or logistical support should be in tandem with the times.
“The construction of a new base and acquisition of more sophisticated patrol boats should be undertaken from time to time.
“This is to strengthen planning and the effectiveness of the marine police operations at sea to defend national sovereignty,” he said when opening the Lahad Datu Region 4 Marine Police Operations Base here yesterday.
The base was built at a cost of RM90 million and began to be used from April 2011. — Bernama
