KOTA KINABALU: The Mid-Autumn Festival which is also known as Mooncake Festival is an official harvest festival celebrated by the Chinese people.
The festival is held on the 15th day of the eight month in the Chinese calendar, during a full moon, which is in September in the Gregorian calendar.
In the ancient times, the festival was a time for family and friends to get together to celebrate the abundant harvest and successful reaping of crops.
Today, it is still an occasion for reunion among friends and relatives, to eat mooncake and watch the full moon, a symbol of harmony and unity.
In the Chinese culture, the sharing of round mooncake among families signify the completeness, harmony and unity of families.
LDP Central Youth has thus organised a Mooncake Festival Celebration to be held on Sept 6, at Dewan Serbaguna Damai from 7pm to 10:30pm.
LDP president Datuk Teo Chee Kang will be the guest of honor for the occasion.
A wonderful program awaits you with dragon and lion dance performances, singing and dancing performances, Chinese orchestra performance, and lantern making competition. There will be lucky draws and other prizes to be won.
The organising committees cordially invite families, young and old to join us in celebrating this meaningful festival and help the young generation to appreciate the tradition and meaning of the Chinese culture.
