LAHAD DATU: The Health Department here is carrying out various measures to control the dengue outbreak in the district.
Health Clinic Advisory Panel chairman Stanley Chin said three areas in the district had been declared dengue free, but an increase in cases had been recorded in two areas in the district.
Stanley said three new cases were recorded at Kampung Unta and four at Taman Pertama 1, and these two areas had become the main attention of the Health Department.
“The Health Department has implemented several measures to control the outbreak, including inspection and destruction of mosquito-breeding places, fogging and ULV spraying in the two areas.
“In addition, information on preventive measures was also given to the people in the areas,” he said.
Among the three areas that have been declared free of dengue are Taman Aman Jaya, Taman Aman Tiga and Taman Kafoh.
Stanley said the difficulties encountered in the two areas had been discussed in a meeting for further action and people in the areas involved were advised to provide full cooperation.
He added that 72 cases, with two deaths due to dengue fever, had been recorded in this district.
