KOTA KINABALU: A 42-year-old driver of a Honda car, in an attempt to evade police inspection, led police on a 10-kilometre pursuit that ended with the car crashing into a road divider at Jalan Bantayan, Luyang, before he was apprehended.

Acting city police chief ACP M. Chandra confirmed the case and said that the police were making further investigation to find out whether the man was involved in other criminal activities.

A police squad car was patrolling near Taman Melawa Jaya in Sepanggar around 11.10 pm on Saturday when they noticed the suspicious looking Honda car. As the police approached the car, the driver tried to flee.

This led to the 10-kilometre car chase with the police in hot pursuit, until the driver lost control of the wheel and hit the road divider at Jalan Bantayan, Luyang.

The driver, who is unemployed and lives at Kampung Kokol in Menggatal, was immediately apprehended by the police.

The police also found a machete (parang) and Erimin 5 pills in the vehicle.
