KOTA KINABALU: The police have classified the case of a man whose body was found with head wounds in a ravine of a foothill at Kampung Kayu Madang, at Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP) in Sepanggar as murder.
City police chief ACP Jauteh Dikun said the police believed the man was killed at another location before his body was disposed at the ravine.
“Post-mortem result revealed three stab wounds on the victim’s back, with one on the back of his head and a fractured skull believed to have been caused by a blunt object,” he told reporters here yesterday, adding that the police would investigate the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
The identity of the victim is, however, still unknown as there were no documents on him and no one has lodged a missing person’s report as well, he said.
Jauteh described the victim as a man in his early 30s, slightly plump, 160 centimetres in height and had a deformed left pinkie.
He urged those who know the victim or have any information to come forward to assist in the police investigation.
The body was found by a villager on July 2. The police initially thought the victim might have lost his footing and fell into the ravine and had classified the case as sudden death.
