LABUAN: Maintaining prices is a challenge for most stall operators at the Ramadan Bazaar as the prices of goods keep increasing every year.

However, a stall operator at Labuan Walk, Suza Tabib chose to maintain the price of her drinks at RM1 per cup even though some of her counterparts at the bazaar have raised their prices.

“I still maintain the price as I can still get some profit by selling at RM1 per cup, as the capital to prepare the drinks is not that big.

“Of course if I sell my drinks at RM1.50 per cup, I can get more return. But it is alright for me to sell at RM1,” said Suza who sells a variety of drinks such as ‘cendol’, watermelon juice, fruit drinks, orange sunquick and corn.

Besides drinks, she also sells eight types of cakes.

Another stall operator at the bazaar, Wafa Aqilah who sells cheesecakes and dates, said that her business was good with all her 35 cheesecakes priced at RM12 each sold out during the second day of Ramadan.

“The sales is good and we are planning to sell a Filipino cocktail known as ‘buko sulat’ after this. The cocktail ingredients include milk, cheese and coconut,” said Wafa who is selling at the bazaar for the first time.

A visitor to the bazaar, Hisham Abdullah, said that he noticed increase of food prices at the bazaar, especially the roasted chicken.

“Before I came here, I went to a Ramadan Bazaar at Taman Mutiara. Last year, the price of a roasted chicken was RM18 but this year it has increased to RM22,” he said.

He added that the price hike might be due to the increase of certain items in the market.
