KOTA KINABALU: Police officers and personnel found guilty of corruption will face disciplinary action, including suspension from duty, said Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib.
He disclosed that between 2010 and this year, about 360 officers and personnel from the state have been slapped with disciplinary action for various offences, including corruption.
“From the figures, about one to two per cent of officers and personnel have been charged, while only 0.1 per cent were involved in corruption.
“Although the figure is small and not a concern, we will always take such matter seriously,” he said at the ‘Reject Corruption’ campaign held at the police training hall (Pulapol) at the Sabah police headquarters in Kepayan, here yesterday.
Also present were State Deputy Police Commissioner P/DCP Datuk Abdul Malek Hj Harun and other senior police officers.
Elaborating further, Hamza said, the Sabah police contingent would continue to cooperate with the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to fight corruption and monitor their officers and personnel.
“Today’s campaign is in line with the recommendation from our Inspector General of Police (IGP) to ensure the value of integrity among officers and personnel is kept at a high standard,” he said.
