PENAMPANG: Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Maximus Ongkili yesterday apologized to the audiences in KDCA for the three  electricity supply interruptions during the closing of the State-level Kaamatan Festival here yesterday yesterday.

“The electricity trip which was caused by internal electricity usage overload should not have happened in this hall. I have ordered technicians from Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd to take over the handling of the electricity supply for the rest of the day,” he said.

Maximus also hoped that such incident will not happen again in the future, taking into account that the State Government had just allocated RM100,000 for the upgrading of the hall, including the electricity system.

Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, who was also present, said in his speech that the Kaamatan Festival is the time for the people of Sabah to ask for forgiveness and forgive each other, despite the different races and religions.

“In line with the 1Malaysia mission, we must trust each other and avoid misunderstanding as tolerance between races has been the back bone of Malaysia’s harmony since years ago, and it is important for this to continue,” he said.

Pairin also said he hoped that the tradition of the Kaamatan Festival celebration would continue from one generation to the next, as it has formed friendship among the community of different cultures.

“I would like to call upon all Sabahans to always support programs organized by the government, especially programs such as this in order to realize our mission, which is to become a developed country by the year 2020,” he said.
