CM assures on opportunities for local youth

RANAU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Aman said the state government would continue to provide space, opportunities and conducive environment in order to harness the potential of local youth in the various fields.

He said development programs and activities would also be intensified and expanded to ensure the success and excellence of the younger generation in the state.

Musa gave the assurance at the launching of  the state-level Youth Day celebration 2014 at the sports complex here yesterday.

Also present were Minister of Science, Innovation and Technology Datuk Dr Ewon Ebin, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Yahya Hussin, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Haji Haji Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan, and Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun.

Musa said the government had provided big allocations, and comprehensive and caring policy developments in spurring excellence among the younger generation.

According to him, about 41 per cent of the state’s population of over more than three million comprised of youth.

Recognising the importance of youth’s involvement and support at grassroots level, Musa said the state government, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports Ministry, would always go down to the ground to hear and understand the voice and aspirations of the youth in the state.

He added that the theme of this year’s Youth Day celebration, “From the Youth to the Youth” reflected the requirement of Generation Y as the movers and catalysts of the Government Transformation Program (GTP), Economic Transformation Program (ETP) and the Youth Transformation Program.

Musa was optimistic that the event, which was held here for the first time ever, would  inspire patriotism and unity, stimulate the spirit of volunteerism and shape a positive mindset among the youth.

“It is also able to improve engagement of new knowledge and technological innovation among the youth to realise the goals of the National Transformation Programme,” he added.
