Body of boy found in sea

SANDAKAN: The body of a boy who was feared drowned after being swept away by waves on the shore at Coastal road here on Thursday was found yesterday.

A fisherman spotted the body of Mohammad Nasrin Alih, 8, some three kilometers from where he was last seen.

According to Sandakan Fire and Rescue Department Chief Anddre Andrew, the fisherman found the body near Kampung Sim-Sim at 1.04pm and informed the police at 2.01pm.

The police had conducted a search for the boy with Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), Marine Operations Force (MOF) and Civil Defence Department.

Meanwhile, three wooden houses at Kampung Bokara off Batu Sapi Road were razed by fire at dawn yesterday.

Firefighters in three fire engines and a utility vehicle arrived at the scene at 4.17am after receiving a distress call at 3.59am.

They extinguished the fire by 4.42am.

No casualty was reported while the cause of the fire and losses incurred were still being investigated.
