SANDAKAN: A joint delegation from Sandakan Indian Association (SIA), Sabah MIC Youth and MIC Libaran led by Taren Sunil Manoharan showed their support and brought joy to Pusat Jagaan Selawat Nabi at Mile 7, Taman Sejati Ujana here on Mother’s Day.
The visitors brought along goodies to cheer up the residents who comprised of orphans and children in need of care. They are all girls whose ages ranged from six to 19 years old.
The group also contributed other essential items and necessities to the care-centre. For lunch, SIA member Nor Aini arranged special nasi lemak prepared by a well-known supplier of that popular meal.
“It is now an established part of our community orientated programme to visit charity homes all year round, especially on significant dates. We have experienced that such visits not only bring joy to the residents but to ourselves as well. When we share our joy with others, it is multiplied many times over as it creates a ripple effect of happiness,” said Taren Sunil who is president of SIA as well as the Sabah MIC Youth chief and MIC Libaran Branch chairman.
“Furthermore the kids could sense our genuine concern for them and this helps lift their spirits,” he added.
The orphanage is managed by Puan Hamidah and her team of dedicated care-givers.
“I always have great admiration and respect for those who take care of the less fortunate and needy. It is a demanding task with heavy responsibilities. We appreciate their roles and will do whatever we can to assist,” added Taren Sunil.
Meanwhile, the night before, SIA members organized a pot-luck Mothers’ Day gathering at their association’s premises. Apart from the fantastic home-cooked food there were also lucky draws and other fun events organized by the members.
