KOTA KINABALU: Novotel Kota Kinabalu 1Borneo general manager Jacques Leizerovici became the first hotel general manager to paraglide from the summit of Mount Kinabalu at 4,095.2 metres above sea level in conjunction with the hotel’s Planet 21 Mount Kinabalu Charity Expedition 2014.
Together with paragliders and Suhari Jainau who hails from Kundasang as his tandem master, this was the first time Leizerovici took part in the extreme sport.
The flight took 50 minutes to land in Kundasang area outside Kinabalu Park.
“This idea came about when Datuk Seri Tengku Zainal Adlin Tengku Mahmood, Sabah Parks Board of Trustees chairman, suggested me to ‘fly down’ from the summit instead of the usual hike,” said Leizerovici who has background as a pilot.
“During the flight I have seen how beautiful Sabah is and you should be proud of it. I would like to thank Major Haznain Ngamil and Suhari Jainau for this opportunity of a lifetime,” he added.
