KOTA KINABALU: Two men were seriously hurt after they were attacked with a machete and a flying feather dart by a group of men outside an entertainment outlet in Penampang on Monday.
Crime Investigation Department (CID) chief SAC Omar Mammah said according to initial police investigation, the victims, in their 20s, had just left the entertainment outlet when they were confronted by five to eight men around 1.20am. The two men and the group were then embroiled in an argument outside the entertainment outlet before a fight broke out.
“One of the victims sustained head, arm and body injuries after he was attacked with a weapon, believed to be a machete, while the second victim was hit by a flying feather dart on his back,” he disclosed yesterday.
Omar said police believed the motive of the attack was due to revenge.
“Both victims are currently being treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and are reported to be in stable condition,” he said.
Omar added that the police had launched a manhunt for the suspects, in their 20s, and the case would be investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for possessing weapons or missiles at riot.
