KOTA KINABALU: The City Hall enforcement team will continue to monitor the cleanliness and safety of the Ramadan bazaar in the city, said Mayor Datuk Abidin Madingkir.
Speaking to reporters after visiting 105 stall operators at Dataran Deasoka Ramadan bazaar yesterday, Abidin said, all 17 bazaars open by the City Hall around the city centre are under control, without any complaints or licences being revoked.
“Health officers from City Hall and State Health Department has inspected all 700 stalls from 17 locations of the Ramadan bazaar. Our officers have also taken food samples from the stalls and so far everything in good order.
“I must however remind our operators that if they break the laws under the Food Act by selling unsafe food, the maximum penalty would be RM20,000,” said Abidin.
He added that the city police will also make their presence felt by being at the bazaars and monitoring its safety.
