KOTA KINABALU: The relationship between Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties will continue to be cordial even with the change of leadership in United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (UPKO).
Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) vice-president Datuk Radin Malleh said the relationship between all BN component parties was very strong.
“Hence, it does not make any difference if UPKO changes it leadership or otherwise. It will not affect the relationship between the component parties,” he told reporters after officiating the Information Communication Technology (ICT) seminar at the Tabung Haji Complex here yesterday.
He was commenting on local news report yesterday that UPKO president Tan Sri Bernard Dompok was expected to announce his resignation today at his residence in Penampang.
“I don’t want to take part in the speculation concerning his resignation because I don’t know whether it is true or false,” he said, adding it was Dompok’s right whether to retire or not.
Radin, who is also Rural Development Minister, believed the BN component party would continue to be strengthened to ensure the people’s future well-being.
Dompok, who is also a former Sabah Chief Minister, failed to retain the Penampang parliamentary seat during the 13th general election in May last year, and is learnt to hand over the helm of the party leadership to the party’s number two, Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau.
