SANDAKAN: The 1Malaysia Community (K1M) has to play a bigger role to bridge the gap between the people and the government and to ensure success of government’s policies and programmes to develop the country.
“The K1M is seen to have a very big role in helping the government to disseminate information and explain to the people about the current and future policies and issues at the grass root level,” Sandakan Division information exco Datuk Samsuddin Yahya said.
He said this during the integration and goodwill visit by Kampung Sungai Mulia K1M Kuala Lumpur to Sandakan here yesterday.
Samsuddin, who is also Sekong assemblyman, said as the eyes and ears of the government, K1M should also be able to disseminate accurate information to the people to prevent them from being influenced by negative elements and lies. Meanwhile, Kampung Sungai Mulia K1M chairman Ariffin Jaafar said the visit, which began last Friday, also took them to several K1M in Sandakan, Kinabatangan and Beluran.
Apart from visiting the districts and their popular destinations, he said the programme also enabled the relevant KIMs to exchange experiences and techniques in playing their roles.
