KUDAT: The Marine Operations Force (MOF) has confiscated about 200kg of fish, believed caught through illegal fishing by using fish bombs, from a four-wheel-drive vehicle.

MOF chief ACP Mohamad Madun said, acting on a tip-off, a team of MOF personnel spotted a suspicious four-wheel-drive vehicle along Jalan Tinangol, here around 4pm on February 26 this year.

He said upon inspection, police found about 200kg of fish in two containers behind the four-wheel-drive.

It is believed the fish were caught through illegal fishing by using fish bombs

Mohamad said two men inside the vehicle were immediately detained for investigation.

He said the confiscated items would be handed to the Fishery Department for further action while the case would be investigated under Section 26 (1) (c) of the Fisheries Act 1985.
