KOTA KINABALU: Putatan Chinese Chamber of Commerce incumbent life honorary president Frankie Liew announced his intention to contest the president’s post after much consideration.

The chamber’s acting president David Lo and majority of the executive committee members have asked Liew to contest for the post.

Liew thanked Lo and the committee members for their nomination, saying that he would work hand in hand with the committee members to ensure the chamber runs smoothly if he is elected president.

The chamber’s incumbent president Datuk Tang Lung Sing resigned from his post on February 19.  Lo, who is the incumbent deputy president, led the committee to call on Liew on February 21, where they expressed their wish for Liew to contest for the president’s post in the election on March 16.

Liew is a prominent entrepreneur in the State and is involved in many charitable activities.

He is also the advisor and honorary president of many associations and charity organizations.

Liew has been a member and life honorary president of Putatan Chinese Chamber of Commerce since its inception in 2005.

Liew said if he was elected to lead the chamber, his first task would be uniting members of the chamber.

Liew added that he would also work hard in propelling the economic development in Putatan, as well as looking into the welfare of the business community and members.

Asked who else would be contesting for the president post, Liew said he did not know but everything would be done according to the chamber’s constitution.

On the other hand, Lo will be defending his deputy president post and expressed his fullest support for Liew in his presidency contest.

Lo hoped that Liew would be elected and lead Putatan Chinese Chamber of Commerce towards a better future.

Putatan Chinese Chamber of Commerce has 57 eligible members at present.

The annual general meeting (AGM) cum election will be held on March 16, 2.30pm at its premises.

Nomination is now open and any member who wishes to contest should submit their nomination by March 12, 5pm.
