PENAMPANG: Kelab Pewaris Kerajaan Barisan Nasional Malaysia (KPKBNM) Penampang Branch has answered Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman’s call to all in Sabah to assist flood victims in Beaufort, Tenom and Keningau.

Led by its president, Datuk Jackson Boijol, the KPKBNM Penampang Branch handed over 130 bags of rice to Penampang district officer William Sampil to be delivered to his counterpart in Beaufort for distribution to the flood victims there.

Jackson, prior to the handing over ceremony, said people in Penampang were very sympathetic with the folk in Beaufort, Tenom and Keningau who are feeling the burden of the floods there.

“We are answering the Chief Minister’s call for NGOs and individuals to come forward and help the flood victims. It is our humanitarian and social obligation to do so,” he said, adding that the rice was donated by members of KPKBNM Penampang Branch.

“This is not much but we hope our contribution can help to reduce the burden of the flood victims,” he said and expressed hope that NGOs in Penampang would also play their part to help the needy.

William also hoped that other NGOs in the district would emulate what KPKBNM Penampang had done to assist the flood victims.

“All assistance rendered to them will be very meaningful to the flood victims in this time of hardship,” he added.

On the club itself, its secretary, Stephen Jimbangan, said KPKBNM Penampang was set up on December 31 last year and would be having its first annual general meeting on March 8.

Those interested to join the club can contact its Secretary of Work, Joseph Lim at 088-223337.

Also present at the handing over ceremony were KPKBNM Penampang deputy president Cheong Kwee Min, vice presidents Carl Moosom and Edward Mujie as well as other committee members including John Masabal, Pancratius Pudin, Nicholas Phang. Maximillian Benedict and Phang Fui Lin.
